Johns Manville, Fernley, NV, is hiring responsible, quality-minded individuals who have a history of working safely in a manufacturing environment as a Maintenance Technician

Summary of Position:

Primary responsible to repair, maintain and perform routine maintenance on production and packaging equipment. This also includes servicing plant utilities, air compressors, switch gear, building and grounds. The Maintenance Technician must possess the skills to keep the plant operational at all times. Identifying equipment issues, reading equipment manuals / blue prints, capable of troubleshooting issues and making emergency repairs should be routine. Workmanship/craftsmanship should display /show quality work at all times. The Maintenance Technician will work closely with the production team in resolving safety concerns, equipment issues and help ensure the quality of the product. Team work and safety performance are important job expectations.

This is a multi-craft position. Pay will be based on degree of competency in all multi-craft skills (Level 1-4).

Key Responsibilities:


Perform electrical troubleshooting, read’s electrical diagrams and symbols. Able to read and write electrical schematics must be able to read P& ID drawings, use handheld voltage meter, oscilloscopes, ammeters, run conduit, pull wiring and troubleshoot electrical problems. PLC, variable frequency drives and control experience are a plus.


Maintains and repairs all production equipment including: conveyors, power saws, chemical pumps, gear boxes, air compressors, hydraulic systems, air dryers, gas heating systems, air conditioning systems, heat exchangers, boilers, alarm system, water and vacuum systems, basic mobile equipment repairs, etc. Follows Preventive Maintenance Instructions and ensures that the records for such are properly documented.


Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts. Conduct periodic inspections to determine required maintenance work flow. Design/Build complex parts as needed for plant using milling tools (lathe, index mill, welding, press, bender, etc.).


Work with the team to solve complex problems. Be able to take the initiative to solve problems with innovative solutions. Works safely while participating in the facility safety programs, JSA training and safety huddles.


Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time on concrete floors
  • Must be able to walk, stoop, crawl, bend awkwardly, kneel and climb ladders and staircases.
  • Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs.
  • Must be able operate mobile equipment (forklifts and aerial lift) and drive company vehicles
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed and have a flexible work schedule.


  • Minimal 3 + years’ experience as maintenance technician (manufacturing environment)
  • Solid Communication Skills (written/verbal)
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast paced environment
  • Solid computer skills including Microsoft office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
  • Solid Decision Making Skills
