Job Description:
Create new recipes
Prepare and cook complete meals and specialty foods for events such as banquets
Instruct cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of food
Demonstrate new cooking/ice and food carving techniques and new equipment to cooking staff
Plan and direct food preparation and cooking activities of several restaurants (GoldenChefs, CakeGuys & IceGuys)
Consult with clients regarding weddings, banquets and specialty functions
Supervise and support activities of sous-chefs, specialist chefs, chefs, cooks and carvers
Estimate food requirements and food and labour costs
Plan menus/orders and ensure food meets quality standards
Arrange for equipment purchases and repairs
Requisition food, kitchen supplies, carving materials, carving ice blocks, and other supplies needed for the events
Maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales and inventory
Prepare and cook food on a regular basis, or for special guests or functions
Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances
Train staff in preparation, cooking, carving and handling of food and carving materials
Carve fruits and vegetables into designs and bouquets
Complete ice carvings prepared by CNC/Lazer Machines
Support catering events with preparation, production and expedition
Conduct live carving and cooking demos
Conduct live sushi and sashimi stations
Manage and operate live food stations
Demonstrate new ice and food carving techniques and new equipment to clients & public (ie; WinterFests)
Plan and direct events, projects and activities happening at different locations as per client’s needs (GoldenChefs, CakeGuys & IceGuys)
Maintain Ice Block Makers, Carving Areas, Fridges and Freezers and manage Ice Blocks production in a timely and efficient manner
Requirements:
Education: Some secondary school is required.
Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in commercial food preparation is required. In the event that the candidate does not have at least 3 years of experience, then the Cook’s trade certification is required.
Completion of one or some cooking-related courses is required.
Food and ice carving skills, and creative ability and talent are required.

Salary: $22.00 hourly, 39.5 – 44 Hours per week

Transportation provided to and from work, as well as to and from the candidate’s home. We will also provide three meals per day.
Important Information: Employee will work from Wednesday to Thursday from 10:00 am – 03:30 pm and from Friday to Sunday from 03:30 pm – 12:00 am. Schedule may change according to business’s needs. Overtime and flexibility may be required. Employee is entitled to a 30-minute paid lunch break and two 15-minute unpaid healthy breaks.
