Description
Under immediate supervision, is responsible for performing manual labor with a variety of construction and maintenance work. Depending on area of assignment, may be responsible for installation and maintenance of traffic signs, pavement markings and speed humps. Will provide support for the various traffic control device maintenance functions. Working conditions are primarily in an outside environment with frequent exposure to temperature extremes, high noise levels, damp/wet surfaces, unfavorable fumes, and hazardous materials. Exercises no supervision.

6:30 a.m. - 3:15 p.m., Monday - Friday
Essential Job Functions
- Performs maintenance duties which may include removing or installing traffic signs and removing or installing pavement markings.
- Cleans, repairs, and replaces traffic signs.
- Prepares City traffic infrastructure for various City events.
- Participates in the construction, maintenance, and repair of traffic signs, pavement markings and other traffic control infrastructure.
- Inspects equipment and reports any equipment in need of maintenance or repair.
- Operates equipment used in the installation and removal of traffic signs and pavement markings and other small equipment.
- Installs traffic control devices needed for temporary traffic work zones, occasionally lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and greater than 50 pounds with assistance.
- Work area is typically areas with active traffic.
- Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency).
- One (1) year of experience in labor or maintenance.
- Valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License.
