Description

Jobbing machine shop and repair facility located in North Surrey is now accepting applications for a Journeyman Mechanic / Fitter to work on marine and industrial gearboxes.
Within this role you will be responsible for the disassembly, inspection, and overhaul of industrial and marine grade gearboxes.
This includes the overhaul of bearings, seals, o-rings and fitting of shafts, couplings and all related hydraulic equipment.
It will be an asset to have experience setting up gear patterns and setting gear backlash. Additional knowledge in bearing assembly and pre-loads for rotating equipment is an asset.
Therefore a demonstrated knowledge and experience in either marine, automotive or industrial heavy duty mechanical systems will be required.
Applicant who are experienced and competent in using measuring equipment such as calipers, inside and outside mics, depth mics, dial indicators, bore mics, height gauges are a big asset.
Must be capable of reading blueprints, service manuals and filling out inspection logs and detailed work accounts.
Rigging and overhead crane experience considered an asset.
Work is performed in-doors and shop is serviced by over head cranes
Must be a self starter and capable of diagnosing repair issues with minimal supervision and input.
