The Fairfax County Park Authority (FCPA) is seeking a Motor Equipment Operator to be a part of one of the most highly-regarded park systems in the country. With more than 25,000 acres of parkland, nine RECenters, eight golf courses, three lakefront parks, and more, FCPA is an exciting organization to be a part of and there are many opportunities for staff to make a difference at every level.
This position variously works alone or with a crew as needed. When working with a crew, participates in and leads the work of the crew. Completes a variety of tasks associated with mowing and grounds/park maintenance. Completes repairs and maintenance of park facilities, playground equipment, picnic areas, walkways, trails, fencing, signs, and park amenities. Completes removal of leaves, seeding, placement of sod, and makes other repairs to turf surfaces. Responsible for the mowing and maintenance of specifically assigned parks, trails and athletic fields. Ensures that staff has been trained in and follows safety requirements for equipment operation and maintenance procedures. Operates a tractor/bucket loader with attachments, skid loader with attachments, mowers and other equipment. Uses gas power equipment. Inspects and drives a truck and trailer, and hauls equipment and material. Informs supervisors of conditions requiring special attention. Maintains tools and equipment in good working order. Completes required documentation and daily work reports.
Note: Work hours are 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, with overtime required when necessary. Occasional weekend, evening, and holiday work required. Positions are subject to transfer to other maintenance operation locations. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the position.
Location: Reports to 8116 Braddock Road, Annandale, VA and is dispatched to assigned parks.
