Senior Grounds Equipment Mechanic

The Senior Grounds Equipment Mechanic will report to the golf course superintendent and/or the assistant golf course superintendent and will oversee a comprehensive daily maintenance and preventive maintenance program at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex. This will include the repair of failing equipment, keeping records of parts and labor needed to repair each piece of equipment, and placing orders for parts and supplies needed for equipment or service. This individual will need to communicate any needs or problems relating to the maintenance or repair of equipment to the superintendent and/or assistant superintendent, and schedule/direct the work assignments of these repairs. In addition, the individual will be responsible for placing safety as a top priority and maintaining a clean maintenance building and service area.

• High School diploma/GED
• 4 years of small engine and hydraulic experience
• Experience with supervision of general daily maintenance of equipment such as adjusting mower heights, lubrication, tire pressure, etc
• Ability keeping work area and maintenance building in very neat and clean order
• Working knowledge of reel adjustment, back lapping, grinding, and setting heights
• Working knowledge of light and heavy maintenance equipment and automotive apparatuses
• Skills in the use of a variety of equipment repair tools, and the making of various types of mechanical repairs
• Working knowledge of the theory, care, and operation of internal combustion engines and mowing equipment
• Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the profession
• Ability to weld and gas torch brazing
• Ability to move heavy objects
• Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions while repairing equipment
• Ability to diagnose mechanical troubles and determine appropriate maintenance work
• Knowledge of and/or ability to play the game of golf and understand how job performance affects the playing conditions
• Valid U.S. or Canadian drivers license
