Job Description

Estimate amount and costs of supplies and food items

Estimate labour costs

Maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales and inventory

Analyze operating costs and other data

Demonstrate new cooking techniques and new equipment to cooking staff

Create new recipes

Instruct cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of food

Supervise cooks and other kitchen staff

Prepare and cook Thai meals or specialty foods in accordance with standards and in a timely manner

Requisition food and kitchen supplies

Plan menus and ensure food meets quality standards

Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances

Recruit and hire staff

Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food

Inspect kitchen and food service areas

Work with specialized cooking equipment (deep fryer, steamer, cleaver, chopping block wok)

Requirements

Education: Completion of secondary school is required.

Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Cook is required. In the event that the candidate does not have at least 3 years of experience, then the Cook’s trade certification is required

We specifically need cooks with Thai cuisine experience due to the nature of our business. Experience cooking with the wok is required.

Working Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, Work under pressure, Tight deadlines, Handling heavy loads, Physically demanding, Attention to detail, Combination of sitting, standing, walking, Standing for extended periods.

Ability to supervise: 3 – 4 people

Language: English is required

Salary: $34.07 per hour, 40-44 hours per week.

Benefits: One free meal every working day. Accommodation provided at a cost.

Important information: Flexibility in schedule is required. The worker must work 40 to 44 hours per week from Wednesday to Monday between 11:30 AM and 9:00 PM or 10:00 PM. Tuesdays off. The shifts usually last between 6 to 8 hours. Overtime and work on holidays may be required depending on the business needs.
