Job Description

• - Check formwork, granular base and steel reinforcement materials and direct placement of concrete into forms or onto surfaces according to grade
• - Fill hollows and remove high spots to smooth freshly poured concrete
• - Operate power vibrator to compact concrete
• - Level top surface of concrete according to grade and depth specifications using straightedge or float
• - Impart desired finish to concrete surfaces using hand and power tools
• - Instruct apprentices
• - Install anchor bolts, steel plates, door sills and other fixtures in freshly poured concrete
• - Apply hardening and sealing compounds to cure surface of concrete
• - Waterproof, damp proof, and restore concrete surfaces
• - Repair, resurface and replace worn or damaged sections of floors, walls, roads, and other concrete structures.
• - Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications
• - Chipping, cutting, and grinding of cured concrete
• - Install form work, granular base and steel reinforcement materials and direct placement of concrete into forms or onto surfaces according to grade

Requirements:

- Education: Some secondary school is required.

- Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience in the trade are required. If the candidate does not have at least 3 years of experience, then a post-secondary education certificate is required OR completion of a two- to four-year apprenticeship program will help to qualify.

- Experience with skidsteer is an asset

- Driver’s License is an asset

Salary: $31.00 – $33.00 per hour, 30 - 66 Hours per week.

Important information: This position will require flexibility on schedule. From Monday to Friday, regular shifts could be 7-12 hours long depending on the tasks to be completed on the day. Shifts will be scheduled between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm, On Saturdays, the workday will begin at 7:00 am and ends at 2:00 pm. Sunday work might be required. If the worker works 7 days a week, then in the next week the worker will only work 5 days a week. Overtime will be required based on the business needs. **We guarantee at least 30 hours of work per week regardless of the weather**
