Research Equipment Mechanic and Heavy Equipment Operator

As the Research Equipment Mechanic and Heavy Equipment Operator, your primary responsibility will be to repair and maintain the research center’s equipment fleet, fabrication and modification of equipment as well as be responsible for agricultural and heavy equipment earthworks operations. Duties will include:

• Research Equipment and Facilities Maintenance and Repair
• Research Equipment Operations
• Heavy Equipment Operations
• General Research and Outreach

• High School Diploma/GED
• 4 years of related experience
• Knowledge of: Equipment repair, modification and maintenance and heavy equipment operator
• Ability to obtain certification and/or licensing in regulated areas as needed
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic problems associated with equipment
• Research and heavy equipment operation utilizing GPS and laser systems
• Welding and metal working skills
• Ability to work extended seasonal hours beyond 40 hours per week as needed with OT pay
• Valid U.S or Canadian valid driver’s license
• Ability to be approved to drive Purdue University vehicles
