Welder supervisor

Company: Lex Metal Fabricators Ltd.

Business information: Lex Metal is a full-service custom metal fabricator. We specialize in the fabrication and installation of miscellaneous metals, structural steel, AESS and joist reinforcement. We design, fabricate and install structural and miscellaneous metal. We are contracted by General Contractors (for projects such as steel beams, columns, joists, stairs, handrails, and railings), then design steel connections and provide blueprints. We fabricate (cut, fit and weld) these items, ship them to the site and install them.

Job Description

Estimate costs and materials

Operate CADD and other computer software systems

Prepare production and other reports

Train or arrange for training

Co-ordinate and schedule activities

Ensure health and safety regulations are followed

Requisition or order materials, equipment and supplies

Set up machines and equipment and write programs for computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools

Supervise workers (welders, trades helpers, fitters, installers) and projects

Resolve work problems and recommend work measures to improve productivity

Recommend personnel actions such as hiring and promotions

Requirements:

Education: Completion of high school is required.

Experience: At least 3 years of experience in the trade/field/work area supervised are required.

Working Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Attention to detail, Fast-paced environment, Tight deadlines, Work under pressure.

Personal suitability: Accurate, Dependability, Excellent oral and written communication, Flexibility, Judgement, Organized, Reliability.

Supervision: 4 – 8 people.

Language: English is required.

Salary: $ 35.00 hourly, 40-44 hours per week. Wage may be increased based on performance and productivity level.

Important information: The work schedule will be Monday to Friday from 6:30 am - 3:00 pm. Flexibility in schedule is required. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
