Job Description

• Install, troubleshoot, repair and overhaul entire heating, ventilation, air handling, refrigeration and air conditioning systems: Troubleshooting, diagnosis and repair of components on truck and trailer refrigeration units.
• Install, maintain and repair equipment in refrigerated trucks used to transport food or medical supplies: Maintaining transport refrigeration unit on trucks and trailers by performing diagnostics using scanners, electronic test equipment, and on-board computers, completing preventive maintenance, component replacement, and service to refrigeration equipment.
• Measure and lay out reference points for installation
• Assemble and install refrigeration or air conditioning components: Installing various new units on trailers, trucks, vans
• Measure, cut and connect piping using welding and brazing equipment
• Start-up system and test for leaks using testing devices
• Recharge system with refrigerant, check and test regulators, calibrate system and perform routine maintenance or servicing
• Repair and replace parts and components for entire refrigeration, air conditioning: Maintains transport truck and trailer refrigeration units and truck APU’s by reviewing shop orders; listening to operator complaints; repairing failures; removing, replacing, testing for Freon leaks, assembling, and installing parts and components involving soldering , welding and the use of refrigeration equipment.
• Coach and instruct apprentices
• Provide customer service
• Drive a mobile truck to and from customers’ locations

Requirements

- Education: Completion of high school is required

- Experience: Completion of a three- to five-year apprenticeship program or a combination of over three years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in mechanics is required.

- A valid ‘G’ driver’s license is required. If the candidate does not have a valid Ontario license, he/she must be eligible to obtain one.

- Ozone Depletion Prevention (ODP) Certificate is required. If the candidate does not have an ODP card, he/she must be eligible to obtain one.

- Work conditions and Physical Capabilities: Physically demanding; Handling heavy loads up to 75 lbs; Manual dexterity; Attention to detail; Bending, crouching, kneeling; Fast-paced environment.

- Work Site Environment: Dusty, noisy, Cold, hot, at heights

- Personal suitability: Dependability, reliability, judgement, team player, organized.

- Language: English is required

Salary: $30 - $32 per hour, 40-44 hours per week.

Important Information: The position includes working 8 hours per day. Work schedule will be from Monday to Friday, from 7:30am to 4pm. Overtime work is available.
