Job Description:

Estimate amount and costs of supplies and food items

Estimate labour costs and manage staff scheduling

Maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales and inventory

Analyze inventory data

Demonstrate menu offerings and new equipment to cooking staff

Supervise activities of cooks and other kitchen workers

Instruct cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of food

Prepare and cook complete meals and specialty foods for events such as private catering

Supervise cooks and other kitchen staff

Prepare and cook food on a regular basis

Requisition food and kitchen supplies

Arrange for equipment repairs

Ensure food meets quality standards

Recruit and hire staff

Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food

Leading/instructing individuals

Requirements

Education: Completion of High School is required

Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in the food industry is required. If the candidate does not have at least 5 years of experience, a post-secondary certificate is required Cook's trade certification or equivalent credentials, training and experience are required.

Work setting: Restaurant.

Work site environment: Noisy, Hot.

Ability to supervise at least 25 workers

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, standing for extended periods, repetitive tasks, work under pressure, and attention to detail, handling heavy loads and physically demanding.

Personal suitability: Leadership, Judgement, flexibility, team player, organized, initiative, dependability, efficient interpersonal skills, excellent oral communication and reliability

Weight handling: Up to 25 kg

Language: English is required

Salary: $36.92 hourly, 40 to 44 hours per week

Important Information:

Flexibility on schedule is required. We are open 7 days a week from 11:00 am - 12:00 am Sundays to Thursdays and from 11:00 am - 1:00 am Fridays and Saturdays. A typical shift would be 5 - 7 hours. Work on weekends and holidays are required. Overtime may be required.
