Description
Under general supervision, is responsible for performing skilled work reviewing plans or blueprints and specifications submitted with an application for a building permit for new construction, remodeling, moving, or demolition of structures to ensure compliance with building codes, zoning ordinances, and other related City ordinances. Exercises no supervision.

Work Hours
7:45 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday
Qualifications
Two (2) years of college from an accredited college or university.
Three (3) years of experience in reading and interpreting architectural and engineering plans, blueprints, and drawings.
Building focus requires the ability to obtain International Code Council (ICC) certification as a Building Plans Examiner or Building Plans Examiner Residential within one (1) year of employment and the ability to obtain ICC certification as a Commercial Energy Plans Examiner or Zoning Inspector within 18 months of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in construction of commercial and/or residential structures.
ICC Certification as Building Plans Examiner.
Experience with guiding customers through the permitting process.
Experience with the development process.
Knowledge of building codes.
