Work Location: Different locations in AB and BC, depending on the project’s sites.

Estimated Start Date: As soon as possible

Job Description:

Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs.

Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements.

Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools.

Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials

Prepare tenders and quotations.

Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems.

Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware.

Schedule and co-ordinate work on sites.

Survey building locations and levels.

Instruct apprentices.

Supervise other workers.

Estimate costs and materials.

Operate CADD and other computer software systems.

Drive to and from the work locations.

Requirements

Education: Completion of secondary school is required.

Experience: Minimum 4 years of carpentry experience is required. If the candidate does not have at least 4 years of experience, then completion of a three- to four-year apprenticeship and some college or industry courses in carpentry is required.

Valid driver’s license is required to go to the job sites.

Ability to supervise: at least 2 workers.

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Bending, crouching, kneeling, Combination of sitting, standing, walking,

Handling heavy loads, large workload, physically demanding, tight deadlines, work with minimal supervision, overtime required.

Personal Suitability: Accurate, Efficient interpersonal skills, Judgement, Reliability, Team player.

Language: English is required

Salary: 40 CAD hourly. 40-55 hours per week.

Important Information: Flexibility in scheduled is required based on the projects. Regular work schedule is from Monday to Friday between 7am and 7pm. Overtime is required depending on the business needs.
