Job Description:

Plant, cultivate/care for growing crops

Harvest crops

Detect disease and health problems in crops

Examine crops for quality and prepare for market

Set and monitor water lines, airflow and temperature in growing and storage building

Write daily basic progress reports

Prepare seed for growing

Operate and maintain farm machinery, equipment and crop buildings

Clean crops growing and storage buildings

Clean equipment needed for growing, harvesting and packaging

Requirements

Education: Not required.

Experience: Experience is an asset. On-the-job training will be provided.

Working Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, Repetitive tasks, Work under pressure, Handling heavy loads, Tight deadlines, Physically demanding, Hand-eye co-ordination, Attention to detail, Standing for extended periods, Bending, crouching, kneeling, Combination of sitting, standing, walking.

Personal suitability: Flexibility, Organized, Reliability, Team player.

Work site environment: Outdoors, Wet/damp, Dusty, Hot, Cold/refrigerated.

Weight handling: Up to 13.5 kg (30 lbs)

Work involves to function under repetitive movement of certain parts of the palms, fingers, wrist, hand, lower arm, upper arm, shoulder and back movements for prolonged periods.

Language: Basic level of English is required.

Salary: $18.34 - $20.34 hourly, 40 – 48 Hours per week.

Benefits: Accommodation provided at a discounted rate. If the candidate is willing to relocate, transportation costs are covered by the employer.

Important Information: This position requires flexibility in schedule. Most common schedule will be from Monday to Saturday from 4am to 12pm. The hours of work will depend on variable factors such as the amounts of bean sprouts that need to be harvested and the team members in attendance. Work on weekends may be required based on the business’ needs. Long hours will be required.
