Job duties:

Notify supervisor or mechanic of equipment malfunctions

Operate and feed a variety of machines such as fleshing machines

Set up, maintain and make minor repairs to machinery

Push carts, trucks or cans of fibres from one work area to another

Clean machines and immediate work areas

Investigate machine stoppages

Assist machine operators and other textile workers as required

Adjust rotation and mixing action of vats according to state of pelts

Examine products for defects to ensure adherence to quality standards

Mix dyes or chemicals according to established formulae

Prepare solutions to clean, pickle, oil or tan hides and skins

Shave hides to uniform thickness

Thickness control

Handle various species, such as fox, wolf, bear, beaver, otter, etc.

Requirements:

-Education: Some secondary school is required.

-Experience: A minimum of 1 year of experience is required. On-the-job training will be provided.

-Tannery knowledge in chemistry, fur finishing, or experience in skinning is required.

-Must take direction and abide by safety rules

-Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Repetitive tasks, Physically demanding, Attention to detail, Sitting, Standing for extended periods, Ability to distinguish colours, Large workload, Handling heavy loads, Manual dexterity, Hand-eye coordination, Combination of sitting, standing, walking, Bending, crouching, kneeling, Fast-paced environment.

Wage: $36.00 hourly, 40 - 44 Hours per week.

Important Information: The regular schedule will typically be Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 5 pm, with Saturdays from 10 am to 2 pm. However, flexibility on schedule is needed. However, flexibility on schedule is needed as some days may start earlier and other finish later depending on the business needs. Overtime may be required.
