Associate Painter / Painter #16603

This position represents a dual-level posting and will be filled as an Associate Painter or next highest level. The hiring manager will determine the job level based on the skills, experience, and qualifications of the selected candidate.

The Associate Painter, through training, will serves as a Painter helper, applying coats of paint, enamel, stain, or varnish to decorate and protect interior and exterior surfaces, trimming, and fixtures of buildings and other structures.  Will installs wall coverings including vinyl, paper, carpeting, and textiles.  Moves furniture, cleans tools and equipment and assist the Painter. 

Associate Painter

Required: 

• High school diploma/GED
• Previous painting experience, including brush and roller ideal 
• Ability to train in the use of coatings / methods
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations
• Possess oral, written and computer skills
• Willingness to be trained in compressor use and airless spray techniques and to erect scaffolding  
• Ability to work from heights up to 100 ft.  
• Ability to lift and carry 25 to 50 lbs. frequently and up to 60 lbs. occasionally  
• Must be fitted for and use required respiratory equipment during specific operations
• Must pass annual physical
• A valid US or Canadian driver's license

Preferred: 

• Previous experience with compressor and airless spray application Painter
• The Painter will service in an assigned area. In order to determine work requirements the painter will read work orders or receive instructions from supervisors or customers; will contact the listed “contact person” within 48 hours of receipt of a work order. The Painter will establish an understanding of the scope of the job, develop a list of materials, determine the duration of the job and provide the customer with an approximate start date for the work. Communication with the customer will be preferably by telephone or in person in order to provide information and answer questions while meeting the quality standards for services. 

Required:

• Three years of previous painting experience, including brush, roller, compressor and airless spray application
• Ability to use compressor and airless spray techniques and erect scaffolding
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations
• Have strong oral & and written communication skills
• Computer skills including familiarity with word processors and spreadsheets
• Ability to work from heights up to 100 ft.  
• Ability to lift and carry 25 to 50 lbs. frequently and up to 60 lbs. occasionally
• Must be fitted for and use required respiratory equipment during specific operations.  
• Must pass annual physical
• A valid US or Canadian driver's license

Preferred:

• Experience with the application and handling of wall coverings
