Job Description:
Plant, cultivate and irrigate crops via drip tape systems
Fertilize and spray crops
Examine product for quality and its readiness for the market
Apply fertilizers
Apply the technique of hoeing between the row
Clean the crops
Clear and collect brush and debris from fields and other work areas
Clear fields of wood and stones
Cultivate on vertical farming system
Cut agricultural crops
Cut agricultural seed according to farm standards
Divide fresh harvested produce into marketable lots and non-marketable lots
Dose water saturation, light and temperature as instructed for crop growth and development
Grade fruits into different grades according to the size, shape, colour and volume to fetch high price in market
Greenhouse cleaning
Guide growing shoots into optimal development positions
Harvest seedlings
Level earth to fine grade specifications
Mixing fertilizer
Pack fruits
Pick row and orchard crops
Remove manually all suckers and water sprouts
Seed cutting
Shear Christmas trees
Shear and shape trees and plants with knife
Sort fruits
Tie and secure plants
Train trees to produce more fruit of higher quality
Write daily basic progress reports
Harvest crops
Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment
Detect disease and health problems in crops
Weed, prune and thin high density orchard systems
Pick and harvest fruit
Weed control in nursery
Report signs of insect or disease damage
Clean and sanitize of all equipment and work areas to maintain a safe and clean work environment at all times
Comply with company policies
Water and tend to plants
Qualifications
Requirements:
Education: No formal education required.
Experience: Experience is an asset.
Having previous experience on high density orchard systems, as well as fruit tree management is a strong asset.
Working Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Repetitive tasks, Handling heavy loads, Physically demanding, Manual dexterity, Hand-eye co-ordination, Attention to detail, Standing for extended periods, Bending, crouching, kneeling, Large workload, Combination of sitting, standing, walking.
Personal Suitability: Flexibility, Judgement, Organized, Reliability, Team player.
Work Site Environment: Outdoors, Wet/damp, Hot, Cold/refrigerated.
Weight handling: Up to 13.5 kg (30 lbs).
Language: English is required.
Salary: $17.60 hourly, 30 – 50 Hours per week.
Benefits: Transportation costs covered if worker needs to relocate. Accommodation provided at a discounted rate.
Important Information: Flexibility is required. Work schedule is from Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM and Saturdays from 7:00 am to 12:00 pm. **We guarantee at least 30 hours of work per week during winter months**
