Job Description:
Assist forestry workers
Assist other logging workers
Write daily basic progress reports, timesheets
Attach cables or chokers to felled trees for yarding
Remove debris from logging site landing area
Operate chainsaws to clear trails through woodlands
Climb trees with chainsaw safely and perform trimming and topping, etc.
Assist with rigging and hooking operations as required
Maintain safety standards and follow all operational guidelines
May drive to and from job site in a four-wheel drive crew cab
Load, unload, and secure logs, lumber, and forestry materials using chains, straps, and basic rigging.
Help set up and maintain safe work areas, including signage, barriers, and traffic control within forestry and road construction sites.
Perform basic maintenance and cleaning of tools, vehicles, and equipment (chains, saws, cables, winches, and safety gear).
Work outdoors in remote areas in all weather conditions and follow strict safety procedures (PPE, radio communication, lockout practices).
Qualifications
Requirements
Education: Completion of secondary education is required
Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in the industry is required.
- Proven experience as a logging labourer or professional tree climber is required
- Ability to climb trees and work at heights confidently
- Proficient in chainsaw operation and tree maintenance techniques.
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, Work under pressure, Tight Deadlines, Attention to detail, Combination of sitting, standing, walking, climbing
Personal Suitability: Efficient interpersonal skills, excellent written and oral communication, team player.
Language: English is required
Class 5 driver's license and a clean driver’s abstract is required
Work site environment: Outdoors, Noisy, Odours, Dusty, Hot/cold, Wet/damp, At heights
Salary: 35.00 hourly, 50 hours per week.
Benefits: Health insurance, Life insurance and AD&D, Dental insurance travel expenses paid by employer if the worker needs to relocate.
Important Information: The regular schedule is Monday to Friday, from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm depending on the season. In the summer some shifts can go from 4:00 am to 2:00 pm. These hours encompass the time required to commute to the work site. Overtime may be required depending on the business needs. We guarantee at least 30 hours of work per week during the winter.
